Jainaba Hughes

Jai is a first-year student midwife at the University of Birmingham and serves as Chair of the Midwifery Society, which she helped establish to create a supportive and inclusive community for student midwives. Alongside her studies, she works as a Student Ambassador, supporting applicant interviews, open days, and offer holder events, where she aims to inspire and guide prospective students considering a career in midwifery.

Jai is passionate about advocating for student midwives, ensuring their voices are heard and their experiences valued. She is committed to fostering a safe, calm, and empowering environment for those entering the profession, as well as for the women and families they care for. Her goal is to uphold compassionate, respectful, and woman-centred care throughout her training and future practice.
