Tilly Cairns

Tilly is a 1st year student midwife at the University of Birmingham and serves as Vice chair in the Midwifery Society, where she is passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive community for student midwives.

Alongside her studies, she works as a Student Ambassador, supporting applicant interviews, open days, and offer holder events. She enjoys encouraging prospective students and sharing her experiences of training in midwifery.

Tilly is drawn to midwifery for its woman-centred approach and finds it incredibly rewarding to support women during such significant moments in their lives. She finds it especially meaningful to witness families grow and to be part of the care that helps create those early connections.

She hopes to eventually specialise in safeguarding, as she believes she can make a meaningful difference to families who need additional support. For now, she is enjoying her journey as a student midwife and is passionate about encouraging others to consider a career in maternity services.

She is passionate about advocating for student midwives and is committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and empowering care throughout her training and future career.
