UoB
The Midwifery Society at UoB aims to create a strong and supportive community for student midwives and those interested in maternity care. We understand that midwifery is both incredibly rewarding and, at times, emotionally and academically challenging. Our society exists as we felt it was important to provide a safe and welcoming space to students so that we can support one another, share experiences, and feel less alone throughout our training. With current pressures on the profession, including limited funding and uncertainty around newly qualified roles, having this kind of support network is more important than ever.
We would love to build and make further connections ensuring everyone feels included, regardless of how busy university life becomes. We plan relaxed socials, on-campus meetups, and informal catch-ups, encouraging everyone to come together.
Alongside creating friendships, we aim to enrich member experience by organising guest speakers, revision sessions, and opportunities to engage with the wider midwifery community. This society is about bringing people together, inspiring others, supporting one another, and making the journey through midwifery as fun and positive as possible.
