Dr Sarah Milosevic

Dr Sarah Milosevic aims to enable people accessing maternity, IVF and genetics services to make informed decisions and to ensure equitable access to the best possible care. She uses qualitative and mixed methods to explore and improve the provision of evidence-based patient information.

She currently holds a Health and Care Research Wales Advancing Researcher Award, exploring information provision and decision-making around planning place of birth.

Dr Milosevic has expertise in the design and integration of qualitative research within health studies and clinical trials. As part of the Centre for Trials Research Qualitative Research Group, she provides methodological advice to interdisciplinary teams and leads trial process evaluations. She also leads Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities in the development of research projects and funding applications and is currently Co-Investigator on two NIHR grants totalling £4.2 million.

Her research has explored clinician and patient decision-making across a diverse range of healthcare settings, including suspected sepsis in emergency departments, decision-making around leg amputation, and factors influencing women’s use of birth pools. Her work contributes to a greater understanding of how information provision, sociodemographic differences, healthcare environments, policy and organisational culture affect patient experiences.

Dr Milosevic is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) Patient Information Committee and the UK Obstetric Surveillance System (UKOSS) Steering Committee. She also contributes to advisory groups for several health studies, including the Obstetric Bleeding Study (OBS) UK, and reviews research and grant applications for leading health research organisations.
