Kathryn Bond

Kathryn qualified as a midwife in 2001 and has over 25 years of experience in midwifery practice, infant feeding and higher education. She specialised as a Lactation Consultant and Frenulotomy Specialist before moving into academia in 2013. Kathryn is Programme Leader for the Post RN MSc Midwifery programme and Admissions Lead for all pre-registration midwifery programmes, where she teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and supervises MSc students.

Kathryn’s research focuses on breastfeeding and infant feeding, including evaluating infant feeding services, improving breastfeeding support, reducing inequalities, and promoting evidence-based practice to enhance maternal and infant outcomes. Her wider interests include the recruitment and retention of student midwives, clinical skills, reflective practice and midwifery education. Kathryn is passionate about strengthening the evidence base for breastfeeding through collaborative research and translating findings into practice to improve care and experiences for women, babies and families.
