Liz Newbury-Davies

Liz Newbury-Davies is a Principal Public Health Practitioner within the Tobacco, Vape and Nicotine Addiction Programme at Public Health Wales. With more than 30 years of NHS experience, including 25 years specialising in public health, she has led and supported a wide range of health improvement programmes and policy initiatives aimed at improving population health and reducing health inequalities.

Working closely with Welsh Government, Health Boards and national partners, Liz helps shape and implement approaches that prevent smoking uptake, support people to quit, and create healthier environments across Wales.

She leads several national programmes, including Reducing Smoking in Pregnancy and Help Me Quit in Hospital, driving system-wide approaches to embed the identification and treatment of tobacco dependency within routine maternity and hospital care. Her work focuses on developing sustainable models of care that improve outcomes for patients, families and communities, and support the delivery of a smoke-free Wales.
