Maggie O’Brien

Maggie has held senior midwifery leadership and education positions both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. These positions include Director of Midwifery, Imperial College NHS Trust and Auckland District Health Board.  She has had experience of leading culture change in both countries and believes strongly in the importance of developing compassionate cultures for women, midwives, maternity staff and students.

Maggie was elected President of the Royal College of Midwives from 2004 until 2008 and received an Honorary Fellowship from the RCM in 2009. Maggie is founder of Tall Poppy Maternity consultancy and author of Respectful Relationships in the Maternity Services.
