
Pamela Higgins
Pamela Higgins PG cert, BSC. Pamela is a midwife with over 20 years’ experience, having begun her career in NHS Fife in 2006. She has worked across a range of maternity services, developing particular expertise in maternity inpatient care and patient safety.
In 2020 Pamela became Best Start Lead for NHS Fife, supporting implementation of the Best Start recommendations and contributing to the development of Bethune team, Scotland’s first high-risk full continuity of care team.
Since 2022, Pamela has been Clinical Inpatient Midwifery Manager, with a particular interest in improving care for women and families, safe staffing and patient experience. She has led and contributed to a range of service and quality improvement projects, with work shared through the English Midwifery Festival, NHS Scotland, WHO Global Secretariat events and other professional forums.
Pamela is a Scottish Government Early Clinical Career Fellow and enjoys supporting colleagues to develop their skills, confidence and leadership, and progress into areas they aspire to.
