The Edinburgh Maternity & Midwifery Festival returns to Murrayfield Stadium on 25 November 2025 for its 9th annual edition — a free, CPD-accredited day of learning, networking and inspiration for Scotland’s maternity and midwifery professionals.


Now in its 9th year, the Edinburgh Maternity & Midwifery Festival returns to Murrayfield Stadium on Tuesday 25 November 2025 for a day of inspiration, professional learning, and celebration for Scotland’s maternity and midwifery community.

Free to attend, both in-person and online, the Festival offers CPD-accredited learning, networking, interactive workshops, and the chance to hear directly from leading voices shaping maternity care in Scotland today.

With over 15 presentations spanning topics from pre-conception to early years, the Festival is the ideal opportunity for midwives, student midwives, health visitors, neonatal nurses, and allied healthcare professionals to refresh their knowledge, connect with colleagues, and explore the latest innovations in practice and policy.

Key Themes and Highlights

This year’s programme is rich and diverse, addressing the key challenges and opportunities facing maternity care across Scotland. Sessions include:

  • Breastfeeding and lactation support – exploring rights-based approaches and the midwife’s role
  • Postnatal care and choice – with Professor Helen Cheyne, University of Stirling
  • Health inequalities – Jaki Lambert, Royal College of Midwives, on the realities facing disadvantaged women in Scotland
  • Neurodivergent birth – Victoria White, Neurodivergent Birth CIC, on inclusive maternity care
  • Advanced Midwifery Practice – mapping the future for Scotland’s profession
  • Group B Strep update – with Jane Plumb MBE, Group B Strep Support
  • Wellbeing and resilience – Rachael Murray Coaching sharing practical tips to reduce stress and improve performance

Alongside these sessions, delegates can enjoy wellbeing workshops such as Crafting for Wellbeing and Writing for Publication, as well as a vibrant exhibition of products, services, and career opportunities.
