Khayla Timothy

Khayla is a midwife with a foundation in clinical practice and academic research, combining hands-on experience with a commitment to advancing evidence-based midwifery care. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) in January 2025 and commenced her professional practice at Sligo University Hospital. Alongside clinical work, she has contributed to three peer-reviewed publications, serving as co-author on two papers and lead author on one. She has demonstrated leadership through involvement in multiple conference committees, including the National All-Ireland Midwifery Conference, and was awarded Best Speaker at the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Student Debate in 2022. She has presented research at national and international conferences, including THEconf 2025 at Trinity College Dublin and two Nutrition Society Conferences 2025. Furthermore, Khayla played an active role as a committee member supporting the Friends of Breastfeeding Awards 2025. Her international volunteering in Uganda reflects her commitment to global maternal health. She is currently in the second year of her PhD at the Technological University of the Shannon, exploring the impact of breastfeeding support on mothers’ personal breastfeeding goals, aiming to enhance woman-centred care.
