Emily Paget

Emily Paget is an NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellow and Assistant Professor in Midwifery at the University of Bradford. Her research focuses on the use of immersive, technology-based simulation in midwifery education to support the development of patient safety behaviours, particularly in recognising and escalating clinical deterioration.

Emily’s career spans clinical practice, education, and research. She has an educational background in simulation-based learning leading on a large scale project transforming the midwifery facilities at the University of Bradford. In 2025 she was awarded an NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaboration (PSRC) Development Award, where she undertook a pilot study exploring the implementation and accessibility of VR and AI-based simulation in healthcare education.

She is currently undertaking research on the national use of immersive simulation in UK midwifery education while training as a mixed-methods researcher through the NIHR pre-doctoral fellowship and is preparing a Doctoral application to continue this work.
