Improving care for mothers and babies a network approach

Ann Remmers has a very long job title. She is both Clinical Director, South West Maternity Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Clinical Network Regional Maternity Safety Champion and Maternal and Neonatal Clinical Lead, West of England Academic Health Science Network. It is this wealth of knowledge and experience that she brings to the task of improving care for mothers and babies.

Strategic Clinical Networks were first set up in 2013 – they’re designed to reduce variation in care services, encourage innovation and provide clinical advice. As Clincal Director, Ann Remmers has been at the active in developing the Strategic Clinical Network for Maternity in the South West.


At the Wales & South West Maternity & Midwifery Festival, she discusses the advantages of the network and makes the case for a nation-wide Maternity Clinical Network.
