Jenny’s NHS career, commenced in 1984 and qualified as a State enrolled Nurse in 1986.
She converted to RGN in 1987 and worked within an HDU/ITU/Surgical environment. She then undertook Midwifery training in 2000 and gained a BSc (Hons) pre reg Midwifery degree in 2001.
In 42 years, Jenny’s roles included perinatal mental health/drug liaison specialist, delivery suite co-ordinator/manager, postnatal manager and extensive experience in Risk and Governance. Jenny retired and returned in 2021 as Covid swabbing centre manager. Jenny is also a Royal College of Midwives Workplace Representative.
Jenny undertook the brand-new role of Legacy Midwife at Southend Hospital in April 2022. It was the appeal of supporting and educating staff in conjunction to promote patient safety that compelled her to apply. Jenny’s legacy midwife role became substantive from 2025, she has expanded the role to include pastoral support and face to face small bitesize facilitation and audit.
