Midwives from across the North of England were honoured at the second annual Northern Maternity & Midwifery Festival Awards last week.
The Awards ceremony took place at Old Trafford Football Stadium in Manchester on Tuesday 25th June, the big winners on the day included Cathy Atherton, Retired Head of Midwifery, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Maternity Service; Cath Holland, Bank Midwife, Helme Chase maternity unit at Westmorland General Hospital, Cumbria; Melissa Connelly, Student Midwife, Royal Bolton Hospital; Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Maternity Service and Ingleside Birth and Community Centre.
The Festival was attended by more than 400 midwives, doulas and healthcare professionals with many hundreds more watching the live stream of the event online with viewing parties taking place throughout the country.
The awards were presented by Conference chair and Midwifery Consultant, Sue Macdonald alongside Dr Yana Richens OBE.
