The Student Midwife Experience festival: Come and be part of the team!
It has been a privilege in recent years to have been part of the Student Midwife Experience Festival in some way. But the special part has been the involvement of students in hosting the event, speaking and sitting on panels. Students have stepped up, as I wrote in an article about a previous event. And now it could be your turn.
So how will you become involved in the event on November 13th?
- Would you like to present on a topic? Talks are usually 15-20 minutes long and could be research or reflective of your experiences. Our potential topic list is below, but you may want to choose something else. Anything that is of interest to student midwives is relevant.
- Would you like to sit on a student panel? This will be on one of the panel discussions that take place. Suggested topics are below, but again, you may like to suggest something new. Maybe you could choose your own panel to discuss the topic?
- If you can’t face speaking how about sharing a poster? This could be face to face or online and the team can help you prepare.
- Why not set up a student online hub in your university? This festival will take place face to face. However, everything will be live-streamed, and you can set up a room in your university, gather all your friends and colleagues, and experience the event together. Previous students have used this opportunity with their Midwifery Society or lecturers as a place for learning and networking, providing food to share together in the breaks. The team for the event will be happy to help you set this up. Start working on this now to get everyone on board!
During the day there will also be opportunity to answer poll questions on concerns affecting students.
So how do you get involved?
All it takes is a 2min video or up to 500 words telling us about your experiences that you want to talk about. More details are below and come back to us if you have any questions. We want this to the festival for you.
And of course, if you would like to write an article for the Forum blog we would be pleased to hear from you. Examples of students writing are here:
The call for papers is out until 23rd August.
We look forward to hearing from you soon
