Sarah Flower
Sarah Flower is an Assistant Professor in Midwifery at the University of Bradford, where she leads the BSc and MSc Midwifery programmes.
With a strong background in caseloading midwifery, Sarah has worked across both NHS and independent settings, supporting a mixed-risk community caseload. Sarah developed a special interest in Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP) while working as a caseloading midwife providing continuity and support to women with the condition as well as supporting colleagues in maintaining up to date knowledge in this area. She maintains clinical competence through ongoing work in acute NHS trusts and fostered collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams. Between 2018 and 2021, Sarah contributed to national conversations on joint working between NHS maternity services and independent midwives.
Her clinical experience supporting women affected by trauma sparked a deep commitment to trauma-informed practice. At the University of Bradford, Sarah is part of a team embedding this perspective into pre-registration and postgraduate education, preparing future midwives to offer compassionate, person-centred care.
