Aidan Foley

Aidan Foley, MSc, RANP, RGN, RNP, FFNMRCSI, has been a registered nurse for over twenty years, working in emergency nursing in Ireland, the UK, and sub-Saharan Africa. He has been a registered advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) in emergency since 2017, working at the Mater University Hospital in one of the busiest emergency departments in the country, and their satellite local injury unit. In addition to the autonomous clinical role of the ANP, Aidan is keen to progress the non-clinical components of education, leadership and research that underpin advanced nursing and midwifery practice. Within this, Aidan functions as an educational resource for the current and future generation of nurses and otherhealthcare professionals, teaching at the clinical bedside and up to university level. Additionally, he has undertaken leadership roles both locally and nationally, including as former chairperson of the Irish Association of Advanced Nurse and Midwife Practitioners (IAANMP). Finally, within the domain of research and evidence-based practice, he is currently undertaking a PhD investigating strategies to enhance research capacity within the emergency ANP population
