Sharon Burnside – Nursing Officer for Education and Regulation, Department of Health, Northern Ireland 

 

Sharon Burnside is a Registered Adult Nurse. She began her nursing career in Northern Ireland, where she currently holds the position of Nursing Officer for Education and Regulation within the Chief Nursing Officer Group at the Department of Health. In this role, Sharon supports the professional and strategic nursing agenda and development and implementation of health and social care policy by providing professional advice in relation to nursing and midwifery education and regulation. 

Sharon has over 25 years’ experience across a range of clinical, corporate and education roles. She is deeply committed to advancing nursing and midwifery practice, driven by a passion for maximising workforcepotential, strengthening capability and sustainability, and enabling safe, effective care through highquality education, training, and professional development.
